Real Gardens

Historically inspired gardens demand Pleasure Walks, lunch with friends, wine by the pond, naps in the Conservatory, reading on the terrace, mental traveling, hearing Providence, exaltation at the cadence of Nature, gazing at the views.....
.
When has testosterone-on-wheels-mow-blow-go-commodify-all-I-touch ever inspired any of this?

Dear Tara, I just blew out mow, blow, whip snip, testosterone on wheels last week......maintenance on wheels for 12 years has all but destroyed my garden lovingly tended by me for most of my married life....going back to hands on care, even if I can't do what' I used to, it will be done with care and foresight! Whew! I feel better now ! I just love this blog! N.xo

Americans seem to value one-ups-manship over privacy when it comes to home landscape design. How can anyone relax in a backyard that opens to neighbors' yards? I'm glad my hedges are getting tall, creating my sanctuary, even though I don't have a pond or conservatory!
